Europe loves its Alcohol by ShrapnelLeader Europe loves its Alcohol by ShrapnelLeader
The other "Alcohol and the World". This was my first one. It was drawn with a mouse.

I know there are other European countries who drink more than, say, Serbia, but I grew impatient and posted anyway. I may continue it again.

Introducing Ukraine, Czech Republic, and Serbia.

In my Algebra class during Freshman year of High School, this kid posted a joke on the blackboard, it was "An Irishman walked out of a pub...no really it could happen" and most of the kids in the class were freaking out because he was Hispanic and they thought it was pretty racis I was the only kid in my class who had Irish ancestry and I was laughing so hard, I almost fell out of my chair.

I've BEEN to Ireland and this is pretty much how Dublin's architecture is set up...

Building, pub, building, pub, liquor/spirits store, building, pub! :D  LOL

Sounds cool! I've always wanted to visit Europe and see the lands of my ancestors. (I'm English, Scottish, Irish and German)

I'm English/French on my dad's side and German/Swiss on my mother's.

I lived in Portugal (5 years) and Germany (3 years) and I can tell you from experience that Europe is pretty fantastic! :)

I've drawn him once before on the SATW website, but I'd have a special scenario for him if I did make another.

Luxembourg may or may not own that title and is debated due to circumstances. Because of its location between several nations and very cheap alcohol, foreigners from all over (like France, Germany, and Belgium) flood into the small country to buy it in bulk. This in turn confuses the polls.

So my plan for Luxembourg would be that of the sly businessmen (he's also quite wealthy). He takes advantage of his neighbor's alcoholism and makes a profit! ;) LOL

I know. living in a part of the greater region of luxembourg(SaaLorLux) comes with going to buy stuff from luxembourg. ;)
I always thought of Luxembourg a a cool business lady...but at the other side the "normal" people in luxembourg are quite down-to-earth..especially their food. °w°"

Very cool! I lived in Lisbon, Portugal for 5 years and Schwarzwald, Germany for 3 years. I had friends in Luxembourg, so we have visited several times. It's a lovely country with nice people. You're right about their down-to-earth nature. One wouldn't think they were some of the "richest" in the world!

He, I'm living in Germany. the Saarlorlux us a region out of the different départments in France (Alsace, Lorraine), the Lander in Germany (Baden-Württemberg, Saarland, Rhineland-Palatine) at the three-borders-region of France, Germany and Luxembourg, Luxembourg itself and sometimes also Wallonia in Belgium. :)
So I'm not Luxembourgian, I'm just often travelling there because it is shorter to driver through Luxembourg than to drive through Germany to visit the family in the north. ^^
If the normal people of that region have one thing in common, it is their love or food. ^^"
Luxembourgians can be extremely charming hosts...eventhough Letzeburgesch sounds not so nice in my opinion. their french accent is cute though.^^"

Very cool! I love being near another country. In America, where I live, the nearest country is thousands of miles away. In Germany, I was only a stone's throw away from Strasbourg, France and was fairly close to Switzerland as well. Very pretty area of Europe. You're in a linguistic center of Europe! That's awesome. ^^

I agree.....Luxembourg is quite a charming place to host. Sadly, I never quite took the time to try more traditional dishes (at least to my memory), but I did enjoy the food. And yes, their Luxembourgish really is interesting, isn't it? It's weird to hear opposite styles of language (Germanic and Romance) clash together to form a French-like German. LOL!

Even crazier.....Denmark isn't even in the Top 15 heaviest drinking nations! Czech Republic above holds the number 2 spot.

Indeed.

Though to be honest, comparing which European country drinks more is kind of like putting "diet" or "light" on a water bottle. However you call it, it's still the same. All of the European nations drink like fish! LOL

i always tohught that alcohol in the scandinavian coutries is pretty expensive...do you drink selfmade stuff or is it because the people there are pretty rich? :)

Not exactly.
Yes, alcohol is very expensive, so they obtain lots of it from cruises and duty-free shops when they travel. As a personal story, I went on a cruise from Stockholm to Helsinki. When we arrived back at Sweden, there was a lot of people unloading carts and trolleys full of boxes of beer, and loading them in the back of the cars. And in Norway is tradition to go over the border with Sweden and buy beer there, as it is cheaper to buy beer in Sweden than in Norway.
Other strategy is to buy cheap beer in stores and start drinking home, so when they go out a few expensive beers do the trick.
And there is always some people who make alcohol at home (totally illegal) so they have their own source. And don't forget, there will always be money for alcohol

You have NO idea how many times I have been told that! haha

When I was living in Germany, my best friend was from Serbia, but this didn't resemble him at all. I just made it on how Serbia would look to the rest of the world! haha
