Opposites Attract: Rarity's daughter and AJ's son

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.

I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.

I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,--I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!--and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.


I won't go into an analysis here, but there are several reasons I chose this poem, one such example being the final stanza. It's not just some infatuation... it's a truer, deeper kind of love. Those who have been reading my story may understand in time.

As I write, I realize that if death may come to pass in my tale, how will the kids of the Mane Six react? Will they stay defeated or will they try to live what may be their last days out in the fullest?

As of now, I'll allow my story to better explain this piece, but in the meantime, I'll say this:

Bismarck and Radiance... son of Applejack and daughter of Rarity. Their parents were as opposite as night and day, and in many ways, so too are they vastly different. They didn't always get along as children. In fact, they weren't really "best" friends for many years. But over time, they began to grow closer. Eventually they were no longer regulated to groups, like when Bismarck was a CMC, and as they matured, so did their interaction with each other. And sometimes... love surprises you. It certainly surprised them.

The term "opposites attract" has a lot of truth to it. While similar goals and beliefs are key aspects of a relationship, two people being the same "individual" often leads to sharing the same weaknesses. In Bismarck and Radiance's case (as is the case of my own parents), they balance each other out.

To me, that's powerful.
